Monster Tea: Reviews & Ratings

You know the reviews are just not balanced at the time of writing as 1.5 star cause there are plenty of 1-star deserving places that make drinks that taste like play dough out of some Asian supermarkets nearby for example. During the peak of quarantine I ordered some drinks and they delivered curbside. They were appreciated at my time of need for a caffeine fix cause others were sheepish about covid and closed... at least the drinks are in the spirit of true bubble tea which is not to make everything from some disgusting powder in order to turn a quick buck - but actually make real tea drinks with delicious and fresh boba...still a ways from that too though. I tried it earlier, when they just opened and they've improved. If they can continue this trend maybe they can compete with some of the premium choices around here like bubbles and tea or gong cha or ding tea. At this point I would give A 3 star. But giving 4 star proactively and to balance the other overly negative review and will check back every few months hoping things keep getting better. Running a business is extremely hard, and so is making good boba, so you know, let's give our community some support and push them in the right direction...and if they fail to improve in a year or two we can take them to task :D

A tasty treat when you are out in Rockville! Monster Tea is quite different from other bubble tea chains like Kung Fu Tea, which is refreshing to me. I've stuck with both more traditional (taro milk) teas and also some of the more adventurous ones, like the matcha rose latte. I would caution that you may want to tone down the sugar at ordering to 50% or 0% sugar. Otherwise, it might be a little TOO sweet for you. Drinks are a little pricier, $5.15-5.75 before boba or jelly, but I think it's worth the price.

I visit this place often, and I enjoy my experience every time. My favorite are the injeolmi bingsoo and the jolly pong slush. Highly recommend!

Went here after kbbq with friends. I was craving popping boba and something fruity, so I got a peach tea with popping lychee bubbles! It's great if you're craving dessert/have a sweet tooth - if not you may want to turn the sweetness down. I also had a friend with me who had their first boba ever here, and he ended up loving it. I'll definitely visit next time I'm in the area.

My boyfriend and I went in to try their bingsoo and we just had to come back and try all the flavors. It was amazing!! the shaved ice part was creamy and fluffy (more like frozen cream, not shaved ice). all the flavors were good but I loved the red bean the most (actually i can go for any except the mango but it's a personal preference kind of thing). it was a tad expensive but I would say it's worth the treat plus the couple (I'm assuming) are lovely and nice. this is definitely our go-to bingsoo place.

This is our favorite bubble tea place! Best chai tea! We keep coming back for it. Their Vietnamese coffee is also really good.

First time trying from here and the bingsoo is good. Highly would recommend the injulmi bingsoo, sweet and flavorful. The portion is big and plenty for more than one person. The service is also very quick and the workers are friendly.

Decent Bubble tea with innovative flavors. It sits inside Pike Kitchen which is similar to a food hall.

Nestled in the heart of Rockville, Maryland, Monster Tea is carving a distinct niche in the bustling world of bubble tea. Unlike the usual suspects, Monster Tea offers a refreshing take on this beloved Taiwanese classic, focusing on using real tea leaves and fresh boba, rather than artificial powders. This dedication to quality shines through in every sip, from traditional taro milk teas to adventurous creations like their matcha rose latte.

What truly sets Monster Tea apart is its commitment to authentic flavors and community support. Customers have noted a steady improvement since their opening, and their curbside delivery during the quarantine showed not only resilience but also care for local patrons craving a genuine caffeine fix. The balance of tea and the texture of the boba hit that sweet spot — neither too starchy nor overly sweet — especially when you customize the sugar level to your taste.

Beyond bubble tea, Monster Tea impresses with its inventive desserts. Their injeolmi bingsoo stands out as a creamy, fluffy masterpiece, more like frozen cream than typical shaved ice, favored by regulars for its rich texture and delightful red bean topping. Equally enticing are the playful jolly pong slush and fruit-infused teas with popping lychee bubbles—a dessert and drink experience that caters to those with a sweet tooth but can be tailored for a lighter profile.

While prices lean toward the higher end of the spectrum, many visitors find the quality and freshness justify the cost. The friendly atmosphere, presumably run by a caring couple, adds a warm, personal touch that encourages repeat visits. Monster Tea is a promising contender in a competitive market, one that’s steadily elevating its craft and flavor profiles with each passing month.

For bubble tea enthusiasts and adventurous dessert lovers alike, Monster Tea offers a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation—an evolving spot well worth a visit on Rockville Pike.
